Is there a report that you run frequently and find yourself re-configuring each time you run it? Would you like to save the parameters and simply re-run it as needed? Better yet, how about adding it to the quick access bar so you can launch it with a single click? Here's how you can do it.
1. Open any report from the 'Reports' menu. Make any configuration changes (filters, sort orders, selected fields, etc.). Click 'Save'.
2. Save the file to a location where you can retrieve it later, ideally on a shared drive where it can be accessed from other computers. Give it a name that reflects the changes you've just made, like "Monthly WO Closure Report" or "Inventory Standard - Customized" or "Joe's Crazy PO Report".
NOTE: The file you are saving is not a copy of the report itself. It's simply a record of the configurations you've just made. Each time you run it, MP2 will pull a fresh copy of the data that you can either print or export.
3. Back on the report configuration window, click 'Cancel' (because you're not actually going to run the report right now).
4. To run the report at any time, click the 'Open' button on the toolbar (second from left), navigate to the report you just created, and click 'Open'.
TIP: Sometimes you might have filters that are based on floating values, like a date. If that's the case, then all you'll have to do before running it each time is change the value for that field. It's still quicker than starting from scratch.
5. If you don't want to add the report to the Quick Access bar, you can stop here. Otherwise, continue.
6. Right-click anywhere on the Quick Access bar, and select "Properties".
7. In the 'Quick Access Bar' dialog, click 'New'.
8. Provide a display label and ensure that the 'Saved Report' option is selected. Click the 'Browse' button and locate the file you created in step 2, then click 'Open'. Back on the 'New Button' dialog, click 'OK'.
9. If you'd like, you can move the new button up and down by selecting it and clicking the vertical arrow buttons on the right-hand side of the 'Quick Access Bar' dialog. When you're done, click 'OK'.
10. You should now see the new button on your Quick Access bar. Note that this will only be available to you - other users won't see it.
