I hope that you are all well and safe, along with your families, friends, and colleagues.
I’ve been thinking a lot recently, as I’m sure you have also, about my own circumstances and of those around me. I have been blessed to work in an industry that is less affected than many, to live in a country and community that enjoy such high levels of comfort, and to have wonderful clients that allow me to provide adequately for my family. I am working hard to temper my own petty complaining over minor inconveniences by reminding myself that so many in the world are not as lucky.
God has truly blessed me and my family, and I have been pondering what I can do to help those who will feel the weight of this health and economic crisis much harder than I will.
During the months of April and May, Warby CMMS Consulting will be donating 30% of gross revenue (including work already performed since 4/1) to Doctors Without Borders. All invoices for April/May will be accompanied by a certificate of donation. Additionally, I’ll be making a 20% contribution for work contracted during these two months to be executed later.
Alternatively, if any of my clients would like to make the donation directly (with the added tax benefit) or to direct it towards a different charity related to the fight against COVID-19, they can let me know and I’ll discount my invoice accordingly with proof of donation.
I’ve selected Doctors Without Borders because they are good stewards of their donations, providing much-needed medical care and supplies where they are needed the most.
There is so much need right now, and I’d encourage each of us to think about what we might be able to give. If you are in a position to do so, you might consider giving some or all of the anticipated stimulus check to individuals in need or organizations that can put it to good use. Charitynavigator.org and charitywatch.org are excellent resources for finding and vetting non-profit organizations.
Lastly, I’d invite you to keep our first responders, government leaders, medical researchers, and community members in your thoughts and prayers, whatever form that may take.
